"Pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means caring for orphans and widows in their distress and refusing to let the world corrupt you." James 1:27
An indication of a healthy church is one who cares for those that have suffered loss or experienced loneliness. While Lawson Assembly has done an amazing job of this in the past, there is not a systematic process in place by which the church is reaching out. In an effort to be intentional about our outreach to widows and those that are alone, we are starting a new ministry called Widow’s Might.
Widow’s Might is a ministry of visitation. The focus of the Widow’s Might Ministry is to partner a family with a person who has lost a spouse or is living alone. The participating family will commit to regularly visiting and developing an ongoing relationship with a widow. Additional opportunities may include:
- Picking them up for church
- Providing maintenance help
- Helping with yard care
- Inviting them over for holidays
- Bringing them a meal
- Inviting them to dinner
- Taking them out for coffee
- Taking them to Dr.’s Appointments
If you would like to be involved in this ministry, please call the office.
