Senior Pastor - Pastor Roger began his ministry at Lawson Assembly of God in August of 2002 as Senior Pastor. Prior to this, he served as the Senior Pastor at Christ Chapel in Platte City for five years and in pastoral staff ministry in Iowa, Missouri, and Texas since 1984. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Pastoral ministry from Southwestern Assemblies of God University in 1987 and a Master's of Divinity from the Assemblies of God Seminary in 1994. Pastor Roger is an ordained minister with the Assemblies of God and serves the Northern Missouri District Council as the Presbyter for Section 1.
In 1986, Roger and Linda were married and have enjoyed over 21 years of fruitful ministry. They are blessed with two sons, Zachary (10) and Nicholas (4). Linda graduated from the University of Texas with a Master's Degree in Social Work. She has served in a variety of ministries within the local church, as well as a Social Work professor at Evangel University and the University of Kansas. Zachary loves sports, reading, hanging out with his friends, and is a very accomplished Junior Bible Quizzer. Nicholas loves baseball, Mickey Mouse, dogs, horses, and playing with his many friends from church, young and old.
Pastor Roger attributes his salvation to the love of Christ that gripped his heart as a teenager, and to the compassion of God's people within the church who embraced him like a family. These two powerful influences continue to direct his life and ministry as he is driven by "a passion for God and a compassion for people."
In his spare time, Pastor Roger loves to be with his family. The three boys (Pastor included) enjoy wrestling, tickling, sports, and just being outside having fun. Also, when he gets the opportunity, he enjoys golfing.
