Lawson Assembly of God Bible Quizzers take first in Minneapolis The Lawson Assembly of God Junior Bible Quiz team has won the North Central Regional competition, recently held in Minneapolis. Competing at Regionals were the 17 top teams from a 7-state area: Iowa, Nebraska, Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wisconsin, and northern Missouri. This is the first time a Missouri team has won this coveted honor at the NC Regionals. Lawson’s team members include Zachary Cook (6th grade), Breanna Cole (2nd grade) and Jonathan Archer (1st grade). Lawson finished with a 13-3 record, scoring 2,835 points, while holding their opponents to 1,835 points. Lawson’s quizzers also earned several individual awards at the tournament. Zachary placed 3rd (out of 78 quizzers) in individual scoring, recording 1,975 points while “quizzing out” (answering the maximum allowable questions) in 11 of the 16 matches. He was also recognized for being in the “160-point club,” for recording a perfect score in one or more matches. Breanna was named the top 10-point quizzer at the tournament. Answering only 10-point questions throughout the competition, she quizzed out in 9 of the 16 matches and finished 20th overall in individual scoring. Lawson’s placement at Regionals has qualified them to compete at Nationals. In mid-June they will be traveling to Dallas, Texas, for the National Junior Bible Quiz Festival. Zachary, a student at the Lawson Middle School, is the son of Pastor Roger and Linda Cook. Breanna, the daughter of Tracy and Charity Cole, is a student at Southwest Elementary in Lawson. Jonathan, the son of Chad and Wendy Archer, is home-schooled. |
