Summary of Recent Services

Sunday, November 15, 2009

We were so grateful to enter the house of the Lord on Sunday and be led in a special time of worship by Andy Hoffecker and the worship team.  Present in the service was Dean Miller who just a week and a half ago gave one of his kidneys to his wife, Dorothy.   They are both doing well and are an answer to prayer.  Dorothy’s sister, Danita Crosby, was also present in the service and blessed the congregation as she sang, “Heaven’s Point of View.”

A very special time in the service was when Chad and Wendy Archer brought their beautiful, new daughter, Jadyn Ann, before the congregation to dedicate her to the Lord.  Assisting them in presenting her were handsome, big brothers, Jonathan and Seth.  Pastor Roger explained that dedicating a child to the Lord does not mean that they have been saved but rather the parents and church are committing themselves, together, to raise the child to know and love God.  When that is done it will be a natural event for her to surrender her life to God when she reaches the age of accountability.

Pastor Roger continued his study in Proverbs 2 reminding us that success is our promise when applying what has been taught in the previous weeks:  searching for, discovering and applying wisdom.  We find success in wisdom through experience and knowing that God loves and blesses us with good things when we honor his Word.  Wisdom will guide us in being over-comers and in how to live our lives.     God is our shield and his wisdom will protect us from temptation and the weaknesses of life.  However, when we choose the wrong path we leave the covering of his protection and have no guarantees.

In the evening service, Leland Harris led in a time of worship.  Pastor Roger then led the congregation in observing Holy Communion.  Pastor Diana brought the evening message from Matthew 14:22-33 with instruction for battling the tormenting trials we encounter.
