What a wonderful day it was in the house of the Lord, to have the privilege to worship together as the Body of Christ. Todd Bell led us in a powerful time of worship, while McKenzie Shockley blessed us with special music. She sang beautifully.

On this day we honored our seniors who are graduating. We have three who are moving on to the next step in the journey of life: Jonathan Guilkey, Lauren Ketter and Derek Hudson.

Pastor Roger then preached a message entitled “Living a Life of Significance.”  The text he used was found in the book of 1 Chronicles 4:9-10 and also Jeremiah 29:11-13.    He spoke about the life of a man named Jabez. This is a man who, if you’re not looking for him, you might not find him. Why?  He is only mentioned once in the Bible, in just a couple of verses. He was mentioned because he found favor with God. He is not a King David, he is not an Apostle Paul, but Jabez was a man who touched the heart of God because of these three things:  (1) Jabez had a great ambition; (2) Jabez had a great faith; and (3) Jabez had a great prayer life.

On Sunday night Leland Harris led us in a time of worship.  Pastor Roger brought a message that dealt with the day of Pentecost. This message was entitled “Preparation for Pentecost.” Using text references from Acts 1:4, 8 and Joel 2:28-32, Pastor showed how God’s Spirit is for today. God didn’t just decide to pour out His Spirit on just a few people. His desire is that all of us would be filled with His Spirit and be endued with power to become witnesses of our Lord Jesus Christ in the earth.
