JBQ District Finals - Rookies & Minors

Congratulations to our 17 Junior Bible Quizzers who competed at District Finals in Columbia this week-end and came away with numerous awards.  Jonathan Archer was named the 2010 Northern MO District champion quizzer in the Rookie division, while Breanna Cole was named the champion B-team quizzer. The Rookie team of Jonathan and Seth Groom finished second in their division with a 6-1 record; while the team of Breanna and Dalton Cook finished second in the B-division with a 4-1 record. A-team District Finals will be held in April.
Our youth will be competing at the District Fine Arts Festival at the end of this month. In the morning service they performed a human video selection, “Set Me Free,” which they will do at the Festival. Participants included Ashley Bell, Ashley Hoffecker, Andrew Hoffecker, Jordan Henson, Jamie Henson, Calli Brewer, Katie Meppelink, Zachary Cook, and Cody McMahon.

Clint Caszatt, an A/G missionary, shared with us briefly about his work in a sensitive country and what God is doing in that part of the world. He noted that there are over 100,000 believers in the underground church in one country but they have fewer than 100 pastors for the entire country. The pastors who are there put their lives on the line every day. He further noted that many believe in God – they just don’t know who God is. As Christians we need to pray for the people and for a move of God in their midst.

Pastor Roger’s message, entitled “Made Alive in Christ,” was taken from Ephesians 2:1-10. In this passage, the apostle Paul tells us that when we are “born again,” which is by the grace of God (and not by our works), we are delivered from death and into spiritual life. Our citizenship is in heaven, not in this world which is under the dominion of Satan. Our salvation is with purpose, for God to “seat us with Christ in heavenly places…that in the ages to come He might show the surpassing riches of His grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.”
