It was wonderful to be in God’s house this Sunday and celebrate our freedom, both civil and spiritual!  Following a wonderful time of praise and worship led by Pastor Josh we welcomed the children as they collected coins for their missions program.

Pastor Roger shared a message with us from 1 Timothy 2:1-6 entitled “Blessing America.”  This country was founded on the truths of God.  As Christians there are ways we can fight for our country and make an impact for eternity.  First, we must pray unceasingly.  Instead of being negative we need to be committed to seeking God’s favor for our nation.  Our leaders need our intercession because they are in positions that have an impact and they face great temptation.  The devil trembles when we pray.  James 5:16 tells us that the prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.  God can raise up a godly leader for America again if “we the people” are people who pray.  Pray every chance you can.  Our families and country are depending on it.

Second, we must live righteously.  We have a responsibility to our country.   Living a godly life can have a powerful impact on the world.  Many people who claim to be Christians are more like the world than Jesus.  Being holy does not mean we follow a list of rules.  It means that we live a life that is conformed to and reflects the image of God.  Leviticus 12:14 tells us that we are to be holy because God is holy.  Hebrews 12:14 tells us to live in peace with others.    We need to be people with the character of God shining in our lives.

Finally, we must evangelize fervently.  Our God is a big God.  We should be so full of Him that He spills out of us.  We all can do something to share Jesus with others.  God desires that all people be saved and come to the knowledge and truth of Him.  If we will commit to pray, live and evangelize for God, we will have an impact on our nation!
