It was an exciting day at the Lawson Assembly of God.  We were led in a great time of worship by Andy Hoffecker and the worship team.  Debbie Wood used her talent for the Lord as she presented the beautiful song, “And Now My Lifesong Sings.”  Pastor Diana shared that the Women’s Ministry Department of  the church received recognition for being the number one missions giving women’s group in the district.  We are grateful that God has placed within this body a people who have grasped the commission of winning the lost and who give generously to mission’s projects and missionaries throughout the entire earth. As Pastor Roger likes to say, the sun never sets on the mission’s work of the Lawson Assembly of God.
Pastor Roger’s morning message was, “A Christian Response to Evil.”  Beginning with 1 John 5:5 we are reminded that those who believe in Jesus Christ will overcome the world.  The Christian should have a three-fold response when evil things happen.  First, we should grieve rather than judge.  We need to feel the pain of the victims of evil and extend grace to others.  Second, we should pray because we know that God hears the prayers and petitions of his people.  Prayer makes a difference!  And third, the Christian needs to repent not only of his own sin but of the sins of his people and country.  When that takes place we are promised in God’s Word that he will bless us:  2 Chronicles 7:14 “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”
Following the morning service we had a potluck luncheon and time of fellowship where we learned more about upcoming opportunities of fellowship.  Because our church is a family, we love spending time together and getting to know each other even better!
