It was great to be in the Lord’s house this Valentine’s Day. There is no greater place to feel loved. We were happy to welcome home Pastor Roger, Rick Fortner and Eddie and Irene Harrison from their MAPS Trip to southern Chile. While there they helped to complete a school that will serve as both a Bible school and public school. It was also great to have our youth back from their winter retreat where they had a great time in the presence of the Lord.
We are very proud of our Junior Bible Quiz team who just returned from an Invitational tournament in Lebanon, Mo. The team consisted of sixth grader Zachary Cook, second grader Breanna Cole and first grader Jonathan Archer. Our team was the tournament champions finishing with an 8-0 record. Receiving special recognition were Zachary Cook for earning first place in individual scoring and Jonathan Archer for earning fifth place. Great job kids!
Pastor Roger shared with us a message titled “The Main Thing.” When all is said and done what really matters? Will it be things we have accomplished, money, pleasure or will it be relationships? In 1 Corinthians 14:1, we see that love should be our greatest goal. The Bible gives us the true model of love. Our world gives us a phony imitation of true love. We should desire to show true love to the world, love that comes only from God. Love should be the priority of our lives.
In 1 Corinthians 13:1-3, we see that if love is not the priority of our lives what we say, know, believe, give and accomplish do not matter. Words without love are empty. Knowledge cannot change the world. Only God’s love can change hearts. We must choose to love God and love others. Galatians 5:6 says, “The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love.” If we act in love the Bible says everything we do is remembered for all of eternity and we will receive a reward.
