Easter Sunday - April 4, 2010

It was wonderful to be in the Lord’s house on this Easter morning.  Andy Hoffecker led the worship team and congregation in a wonderful time of praise and worship that reminded us of all that Jesus has done for us.  Following the worship service we brought each of our children’s classes to the front to be recognized.  We have a great looking group of kids and we are very proud of them.

Our choir, led by Kristy Ross, blessed us with two specials reminding us of what Easter is really all about.  We are so thankful for Kristy and all she has done to help our church in the music department.  We will miss her as she now feels that God is leading her in another direction.

Pastor Roger shared a message with us from 1 Peter 1:3-9.  God has given us the gift of life and Jesus has given us the opportunity to receive the Hope of eternal life.  Life is a vapor.  When we die our bodies are buried but our spirits will live on.  Jesus wants to give us abundant life, the very best life we can experience.  Sometimes we chase things in life that don’t really matter.  Those things will never fill the void in our lives.   Life is found in Jesus Christ.  No one has ever lived the miraculous life that Christ lived.  He was born as a baby, lived a sinless life and became the perfect sacrifice for the sins of people.  The only way we can become holy and in right standing with God is when the blood of Jesus is applied to our sinful hearts.  We cannot imagine the pain and suffering Jesus took upon Himself all because He loves us.  When He paid the price for sin and rose from the grave a way was made for us to receive forgiveness.  We are justified by His blood.  It is only when we lay down our ways and pick up the Way and the Truth and the Life that we find true life.  We will have difficulties and grief in this life but if we keep our eyes on Jesus we have an inheritance waiting for us that will never perish.
